Here we see a green, LEED-certified office building under construction Downtown. A new residential building is being completed next door.
We need to support a vibrant downtown though the continued development of residential, office, and retail in Houston's core.

In the distance are office buildings, home to many of the companies providing jobs and fueling the local economy.
In order to maintain a thriving business environment and a thriving Downtown, Houston needs to attractive new businesses and support the growth of local companies.

It's great to see HPD on the street keeping our neighborhoods safe. Having officers on foot or on bike patrols provides a better way for community members and officers to interact. We need a "neighborhood policing" model that encourages officers to know their neighborhoods.

The misplaced, though necessary, fire hydrant blocking the sidewalk sends a clear message: we need to do a much better job planning and building the public realm. Thankfully, the overhead utility lines have been placed underground, where they're safer and don't detract from the look of the park.

This wide sidewalk is on the edge of our new and wonderful Discovery Green. If we want a walkable city we need safe, tree-lined, and attractive pedestrian areas.
