Peter Brown for Mayor, Houston 2009

THANK YOU!

July 16, 2009
Dear Friends,

Thank you.

Even though it’s still early, you’ve already made one thing perfectly clear: you share my vision for an even better Houston, and you’re going to be a big part of our efforts. Our campaign is strong, we have momentum, and your support so far has been invaluable.

We just announced our fundraising totals. Thanks to you we have over $1.7 million in our war chest, ready to use as we move closer to the election – more than THREE TIMES of what my opponents have!! As we pushed hard to meet our June 30th deadline goal, it was fiscal discipline and your contributions that helped put us over the top. I knew you’d come through, and I couldn’t be more grateful for your support.

We’re now ramping up our campaign throughout the city, you can help by joining us to kick off our Houston neighborhood block-walking program on August 1st. Sign up at www.peterbrownformayor.com/blockwalk

I’m so excited by the enthusiasm we’re seeing from folks supporting our campaign vision. I wanted to share a little of what we’ve been doing with you:

  • We spent the Fourth of July in Kingwood. I judged the children’s “Fishing Rodeo” in the morning, before marching with a large group of supporters in the parade. Afterwards, we stopped by a few local events, including the Kingwood Democrats annual picnic. Read about it at: http://peterbrownformayor.com/news-center/on-the-campaign-trail/244

  • We’re running an aggressive field operation, competing for every vote, in every neighborhood across our city. We recently added a number of additional top-notch staff to help us reach out to and persuade voters. I’m excited to have them aboard!

  • We took the Houston Pride Parade by storm with our large and excited contingent of supporters. It was a great time, and our campaign was the only one to win an award. We took “Best Creative Music.” Read about it at: http://peterbrownformayor.com/news-center/on-the-campaign-trail/243

  • We’ve been participating in a lot of events around the city. In the past week, we’ve participated in several forums such as the East End Chamber forum, met with the Greater Houston Partnership, and visited many churches. It’s been great to share my views, my vision and meet so many like-minded Houstonians along the way.

  • Our fundraiser at the Hotel Zaza was a big success and a lot of fun. Thanks to all of you who showed up!

We’ll be doing a lot more in the coming weeks, and I hope that you’ll join us. To sign up and get involved, please visit www.peterbrownformayor.com/join.

I’m relying on your support. Thanks for your help in showing Houston that we mean business. My staff and I work hard every day, but we couldn’t accomplish even a fraction of what we’ve been able to do without you.

Thank you for all that you do,

P.S. Don't forget, please join us to kick off our Houston neighborhood block-walking program on August 1st. Sign up at www.peterbrownformayor.com/blockwalk
